Tuesday, May 24th
We have a total of almost $900.00. Parents have asked that we do the rug, then the kids, and then use what is left over as we need to.
Rug: $500 budgeted originally, but fundraising has given us flexibility on the cost.
Size of maybe 6x9.
We would like to soften the eye of the eagle by removing the eyebrow above the eye. We plan to send the image we have altered together to the rug company and get back a series of mock-ups (different fonts, etc...) for the kids to vote on. Barbara will work on this image in Photoshop and contact the company.
We need to tape out the dimensions before ordering the rug.
Flowers for kids: Ruth
Flowers for decoration: Paid for by Ruth (possibility of silk flowers-try Michael's?) Barbara
Flowers as gifts: Ruth
Picnic paper supplies: 5th grade funds 53.00
Cake: By Ruth
Graduation Program
Music: Divide the songs up so not just at the end (15 min. total). Props??
Procession: Fifth graders sit in front of the stage and face parents. Short steps to enter. Cross stage to get medals and certificates. Then receive a flower from 4th grade student.
Certificates and awards should be on podium in order.

We decided to send out an upcoming newsletter with several reminders (field trip contact sheets, progressive pictures) in addition to behavior expectations. Students will have a limit of three cumulative (in all classes, all day) strikes; the first two count as warnings. After three strikes, a letter will be written by the student identifying the behavior and sent home to be signed and returned. We identified specific areas of :
Talking over others, with others, or while teacher is instructing.
On task during independent or cooperative work
Respectful language and attitude

Other questions?
Monday, March 21st Geometry DIAL
• Minutes from March 15th were updated.
• The team decided to teach writing poetry when we teach poetry during reading instead of during the writing block.
• We will use select students in each homeroom to produce the 3rd-9 weeks newsletter that will go home with the report cards. We will aim to have those articles in by the Wednesday after Spring Break, if not sooner.
• Shelby shared her vision of completing the measurement unit by mid May concluding with the oceanography project. The creative writing can fit in toward the end of the year after the measurement is completed. We believe we can give both measurement and creative writing our adequate attention this way. This will also allow us to meet the county BAW genre unit published piece requirement. We can also use mastery or other times to write, review SS and science, or more math. We will still wait until the released Math results are analyzed to firm up this plan, but we ended the meeting with a general consensus that this plan will work. (Yeah!)
• Shelby ran off the Henley Letters Ruth had e-mailed to us. We agreed to get the Henley letters to Ruth by March 24th.
• We will come to tomorrow's meeting with our fractions subtest compiled with a /35 score computed to a percent.
• Field Trip planning: Claire called Jamestown, the Aquarium and the bus people. We are tentatively booked for May 6 at Jamestown and she left a message for a return call from the aquarium. Two buses will cost $2700. This will put the cost of the trip at about $65. Any added parents and money earned from the fundraiser will bring this cost down. The tentative plan is to leave here at 6:30 AM, arrive at Aquarium around 10. Depart for Jamestown at 12:30. Arrive at Jamestown at 2:00. Leave Jamestown at 5:00. Stop at McDonalds on the way home, and be back home by 8:30. Barbara has e-mailed Libbey Stackhouse to try to arrange a backstage pass from her Dad who is a researcher there. • Refreshments for the Variety Show discussion. We will send home a call for beverages, but use the money from the last refreshments to purchase snack bags. • We agreed on what we are going to mark for this quarter's report cards for reading and math.
• Tabled: Discuss when we will meet or split up work necessary to get work done that is not completed during team times.
